The electric heater is a soft, flexible film-type electric heating device. It has a large heating surface, uniform heating, good weather resistance, good corrosion resistance, good environmental protection, and good heat resistance. 电热片是一种柔软、可弯曲的薄膜式电热装置。该产品是将泊状、丝状金属加热介质均匀涂敷于耐高温硅橡胶玻璃纤维布料上，经高温模压.其体薄一般为厚度1.5MM~1.5MM，质轻一般为厚度1.3~1.9MM.通电发热迅速，温升快，具有发热面大，发热均匀，耐候性好，耐腐蚀性好，环保性好，耐热性好，安装方便，寿命长，绝缘强度高。单独使用时，可采用多种电加热装置。
因此，电热片是以硅橡胶为主要原料，而被大众普遍称为“硅橡胶电热片”、“硅胶电热片”(又称硅橡胶)，在台湾等少数地区被称为硅橡胶。
可广泛用于户外热能环境下的通信设备、户外保温防冻、化工设备的升温、管道防冻、户外设备的备用电池保温、医疗等行业。
简言之，由于电热片本身柔软，可以弯曲，因此常被用来包裹某些有弧度的物体表面，实现加热，如油桶、管道、实验设备等。
电热片的一般有复杂的迷宫线路组成，为了更好的铺展受热面，需要对一些薄膜表面进行加工，例如汽车后视镜中使用的电热膜，我们都知道汽车后视镜属于不规则有弧度的形状，此时需要精确地刻画线路才能更好保证发热片受热均匀，从而起到除雾去霜的作用！
