Possibilities and challenges of laser welding of PP and PC plastics

For laser transmission welding, if PC plastic is transparent and PP plastic is opaque, an absorbent can be applied to the PC side to enhance the absorption of laser energy and thus achieve welding.


However, it should be noted that even with these methods, laser welding of PP and PC plastics may face some challenges, such as weld strength, heat-affected zone control, welding speed, etc. These need to be solved in practical applications by optimizing process parameters and selecting appropriate auxiliary materials.


In addition, the use requirements of PP and PC plastics in different application scenarios need to be considered. For example, in the fields of medical equipment and automobile manufacturing, there are high requirements for the strength and sealing of welding joints, so a more sophisticated and reliable welding process needs to be selected.


Therefore, although PP and PC plastics have certain welding difficulties, they can be welded together through modern plastic laser welding technology and appropriate process optimization. However, in practical applications, it is necessary to select appropriate welding methods and process parameters according to specific circumstances to ensure welding quality and efficiency.
