Can nylon 6 be laser welded?

Release time:2021-11-29 11:25:42

【summary】

Nylon 6 laser welding uses a high-energy-density laser beam as a heat source. Under the action of the clamping force, the nylon 6 plastic itself or other thermoplastics undergo secondary polymerization, and a weld is formed at the joint after cooling. This type of high-efficiency, high-precision welding can sometimes be better than nylon 6 or other plastic welding.

Nylon 6 laser weldingUsing a high-energy-density laser beam as a heat source, under the action of the clamping force, the nylon 6 plastic itself or other thermoplastics are secondary polymerized, and a weld is formed at the joint after cooling. This type of high-efficiency and high-precision welding is sometimes better than nylon 6 or other plastic welding.

Not all plastics can be laser welded. First, it must be a thermoplastic. Nylon 6 can be welded with other nylons, PVC, PS, PBT and other thermoplastics; second, the upper glue should be able to pass the laser to the greatest extent, and the lower plastic should be able to absorb the laser to the greatest extent. If the upper layer is black nylon 6 plastic, and the lower layer is highly permeable organic glass.

Can nylon 6 be laser welded?(图1)

It has five methods: external welding, synchronous welding, quasi-synchronous welding, roll welding, and radiation mask welding. In nylon 6 laser welding, roll welding is the most suitable, and it is widely used in the welding of printed circuit boards, electronic components, medical instruments and other parts.

Nylon 6 laser welding includes ultrasonic, friction welding, vibration welding, hot gas welding, submerged arc welding, etc., but nylon 6 laser welding does not involve contact, can weld artificial contact parts, can weld in vacuum or other gas environments, has fast heating and cooling speeds, high welding strength, low stress and small deformation.
