Problems with packaging tear line dotted line knives

The traditional processing method for the tear line of PVC film is the dotted line knife. PVC is a thermoplastic resin formed by the polymerization of vinyl chloride under the action of an initiator. At present, in the production process of PVC film, a manually controlled blade is used to punch holes in the PVC film. Due to different operating methods of the operator, the cross-section of the holes on the tear line after processing is relatively large, the overall flatness of the tear line is different, the tear line is easy to crack, the product qualification rate is low, and it is easy to cause subsequent operations. The blades and rollers used in the processing process are easily damaged. The blades and rollers are basically scrapped within one month, which increases the production cost and replacement workload, making the processing efficiency of the tear line low and the work intensity high.

All soft packaging films on the market are structures composed of multi-layer films. Each film is about 10 microns thick, and each functional layer has different properties, such as PET has high rigidity and good confidentiality, PE has good heat sealing and tear resistance, PP has good vapor barrier, aluminum foil is often used for light blocking, and paper can generally protect the film. Laser layer cutting refers to cutting a layer of film without affecting the functions of other films. For example, micro-cutting of a high-strength film layer can form an easy-to-open structure, but because the cut is very small, it has no effect on the appearance of the package. Although the mechanical scratching or punching method of plastic film is quick and simple, it cannot distinguish different film layers.

The results of mechanical scratches or mechanical punching are:

1. If the scratch depth is too small, even if the mechanical layer of the film is not completely scratched;

2. If the scratch depth is too large, the light-blocking layer and vapor-blocking layer will be damaged.  

Therefore, people have been pursuing a reliable processing technology that makes cutting more delicate and selective. Through the easy-tear laser cutting machine, cutting can be performed on different layers of plastic film.
