When using a plastic laser welding machine, there are two different methods or modes to transfer energy from the laser to the welding material. According to the power, this is the power factor of the laser. In the weld area, the laser welding mode can be a guide mode or a keyhole mode. The key difference between the two laser welding methods is the energy delivered to the metal. The conduction mode can be thought of as low energy density, and the keyhole mode contains higher energy density. But remember, energy density is the most influential mode.
And since energy density is the cross-sectional area of the weld that the power passes through, changing the weld ratio or dividing the power of the laser beam by the defined type will affect the type of weld. Conduction mode welding is basically a low energy density weld that heats the surface of the material to be welded, once the surface is heated, it conducts the heat deeper into the material.
Since this welding method is low energy density welding, the surface weld size is generally larger and the penetration depth is generally shallower.
